MEDIATION

Disputes and conflict are a fact of life. Whether it's between family members, work colleagues, or with a customer, the impact can be devastating. Unresolved disputes consume emotions, thoughts, energy, health, time and money.

Mediation can be a quick, efficient and cost-effective way of resolving a dispute or conflict. It may also minimise the risk of problems in the future and can save or re-connect important relationships. Facilitative mediation is a process in which the participants, with the support of myself, identify issues, develop options, consider alternatives and make decisions about future actions and outcomes. I am the third party who supports participants to reach their own decision.

A structured mediation process provides a safe and supportive environment in which each person is encouraged to talk openly and have their equal say, as I facilitate communication and plans between them.

Mediation encourages the development of a solution everyone can live with. I do not decide the outcome or tell people what to do, but simply help them to reach (and sometimes document) an agreement.

I hold Certificates in Mediation from the Department of Justice and Attorney-General in conjunction with Griffith University, and Queensland University of Technology's Faculty of Law.
